4x4s and Car Rentals

Introduction

The use of a rental car is highly recommended as this will allow you to take full advantage of your time in Costa Rica and, of course, reach those out of the way places that often produce the most satisfying results.

We understand that renting a car in a foreign country can be an intimidating experience, which is why we use the country's largest and most respected agency whose cars, staff and service outshine all of their competition.

Over the past few years, the government has made a tremendous effort to improve the infrastructure of Costa Rica and the result is that almost all routes are completely paved (sounds pathetic, we know) and even the most remote spots are becoming more accessible every day. However, as rain is abundant and potholes/dirt roads are inevitable to reach some destinations, we do recommend the use of a 4x4 in order to avoid the hassles of flat tires, and certainly, for added comfort.

We do recommend that all driving be done during daylight hours as mountain passes and unmarked roads are commonplace. Before your trip, we will provide you with a marked road map and detailed driving directions in order to make your travels easier.

	Yes, all of our prices include the mandatory CDW insurance, as well as unlimited mileage.
	We are flying into San Jose , but we would like to drop off our vehicle in another location…Is this possible and if so, how much does it cost?
	Yes, you can pick up the vehicle at any of the agencies countrywide locations, and drop them off at any of the others. Depending on the drop off location, a small surcharge may apply.
	Although we would like to rent a car, we are a little concerned about being out of touch on the road. Do you know anywhere to rent a cell phone?
	Yes, in fact, we can have one waiting for you upon pick up of your rental car…
	Are there automatic transmission vehicles available? Manual?
	Both automatic and manual transmission are available, however, it will depend on availability and the model as not all models are available with this option.
