Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Get off the plane and cart over to the Hampton Inn & Suites with a complimentary airport shuttle. OK, it's not the most exotic of places, but it is centrally located in San José, and there are plenty of restaurants and attractions around the area to delve into, including museums and landmarks if you're into the cultural thing. All rooms are equipped with two double beds, cable TV, air conditioning, telephone, and private bath with hot water. On site amenities include a swimming pool, tv lounge with happy hour, gift shop, and a continental breakfast is included in your stay. Get ready to drive tomorrow to Tamarindo!

You know, local flights aren't THAT expensive. Most start at around $55 because Costa Rica is so small. More on in-country flights. For specific pricing contact us directly.

Day 2-7

Grab the 4x4 and journey to Tamarindo. It's a fairly straight shot northwest from San José, and you'll enjoy the drive , perhaps stopping off for a famous local cup of coffee (there are coffee plantations just outside the city) and typical meal. It's kinda like driving from San Diego to San Francisco (plus or minus a few potholes!), through some very beautiful country, straight up Freeway 1. Tamarindo, the "surf mecca" of the north, is centrally located to many fantastic surf breaks up and down the Pacific North coast of Costa Rica.

Tamarindo Diria - a great surfer hotel, centrally located. You arrive in the evening at one great surfer hotel, The Tamarindo Diria. Grab a drink at the bar, relax and maybe watch the sunset, and get ready for surfing!

The Tamarindo Diria is a luxury hotel right in the heart of Tamarindo. Recently remodeled, this hotel is one of the only hotels right on the beach.

Although this hotel is ideal for couples, families or for those looking to be right on the beach, it's perfect for surfers, because it's smack dab in the middle of town, and a great launching point for surfing.

The hotel offers a beautiful pool, restaurant, bar and a very professional concierge service. EL DIRIA Hotel Playa Tamarindo offers tempting full breakfast buffet (which is included zero charge on this trip).

This really is a great jump off point to some great surfing.

We have both a 1-day and 2-day trip to Boat Trip to Witches Rock & Ollie's Point adventure tour for easy access to the waves. You can combine the boat cost for a group of friends and almost take the trip for the cost of heavy cab fare. Meals included! Call for more info.

Day 8

Travel time! Moving south and inland, you'll bypass Nicoya Peninsula to the famous Jaco and Hermosa, about a 6-7 hour drive (and not driving like a maniac.) Drop off your bags at the Club del Mar (information below) and relax. Another margie, another sunset, and again get ready for some incredible surfing!

Day 9-14

The Jaco / Hermosa area is THE definitive surf mecca of the central pacific coast and possibly of all Costa Rica. Get ready to surf locations like Boca Barranca (great for longboarding), Caldera, Playa Jaco and Playa Hermosa (some say the most consistent conditions on the Pacific).

Club del Mar HotelYou'll be staying at the Club del Mar, just steps from the surf. It's a smaller, boutique hotel, but that doesn't mean you'll encounter attitudes, just that there's going to be less people around. Big trees everywhere, friendly staff, great restaurant, and good amenities.

Each casita has an ocean view and is designed to provide the concept of indoor/outdoor living in harmony with the surroundings. The two bedroom, two baths, single level units have high ceilings, 1100 square feet of air conditioned living space, 8 ft. doors, louvered windows, a spacious family gathering area, and sleeping accommodations for six.

From this location, you'll have access within minutes or under an hour to some of the best surfing locations in Costa Rica.

Day 15

Alas, surfer, time to jet. it's 2 hours back to San José, where you'll pack your board and board your plane back to civilization. If you want to stay extra days for some shopping and fun in the cultural center of Costa Rica, we can do that too. But you might be thinking, after 12-13 days of surfing, 'hey, a plane ride might be a good time to catch up on some sleep!'
